Holy Week 2018

Holy Week begins on Sunday, March 25th, the Sixth Sunday of Lent, known as Palm Sunday.  Palm Sunday is also referred to as Passion Sunday and includes telling the story of Jesus' arrival in Jerusalem, to the waving of the palms and then moving on to his arrest, trial and execution.  Once again, we are combining the triumphal spirit of Palm Sunday with the sadness of the passion of Christ, through music and scripture.  Palms will be distributed to all in attendance following the service.

Later in Holy Week, on Maundy Thursday, March 29th, a service of Tenebrae, with gluten-free communion, will be offered at 7:30 PM in the Church Sanctuary.  The Office of Tenebrae dates back to the 7th and 8th centuries and is characterized by the extinguishing of candles and the reading of scripture, telling the story of the falling away of the disciples before Jesus' crucifixion.  A service of devotional significance, Tenebrae is a contemplative and meditative experience.

Easter Sunday with the Flowering Cross - April 1st

Christ is risen!  Christ is risen, indeed!  For over 1500 years, Christians have whispered, spoken, shouted, and sung those words on Easter Sunday morning.  We will be saying them once again this Easter, as we celebrate the Day of Resurrection, 2018.  The Flowering Cross will be a part of this special worship service.  We encourage everyone to bring a cut flower with them to help turn a plain wooden cross into a beautiful, flowering cross.  Roses, daffodils, daisies, carnations, and just about every kind of flower adorns the cross in preparation for the opening call; Christ is risen, Christ is risen, indeed!
