Rev. Dr. Philip "Joe" Mayher Interim Pastor

Meet Our Interim Pastor and Teacher!

Reverend Dr. Philip "Joe" Mayher comes to us (after a brief retirement) from The Congregational Church of Weston (MA).  Joe, as he likes to be referred, is a Western Mass. native, born in Springfield and raised in East Longmeadow.  There, his church home, the First Congregational Church, UCC, gave him a strong Christian formation, calling forth a sense of service.  After graduating from Drew University, Joe went to Harvard Divinity, transferring to Andover Newton Theological School where he received his masters and doctorate.  For many years, he was an adjunct faculty member there, teaching four different courses in Christian Education and Youth Ministry.  Joe has served in many contexts over the past four decades:  Assistant Minister at Quincy Point Congregational Church, UCC, Associate Pastor at United Church in Walpole, UCC, Teaching Minister at the Wellesley Congregational (Village) Church, UCC, Conference Minister and Teacher for the N.H. Conference, UCC, and for the last twenty years, as Pastor and Teacher at the Congregational Church of Weston, UCC.  Joe is happily married and has two adult children.

Reverend Joe looks forward to his time here and pledges his support to Mittineague Congregational Church.  Joe is quoted as saying, "...we all need to rely on each other's ongoing commitment to and through the church of Jesus Christ!"  He looks forward to meeting all members of the congregation and welcomes everyone within the community to come worship with us on Sundays at 10:00 AM.
